The martingale collar is also referred to as the greyhound or sighthound collar. They are designed to provide gentle, but effective control without a choking effect.

The basic construction of a dog's martingale consists of two loops which draw together under your hound's chin if he or she pulls on their lead. Fitted properly a martingale should prevent your dog slipping out of their collar if they try to back out of it.

All of our martingales are made using high quality polypropylene webbing and the "reduced loop" martingales are satin lined for that extra touch of luxury.

A selection of 38mm (1.5 inch) and 50mm (2 inch) deep martingales. The 1.5 inch are suitable for small to medium hounds or dogs that walk calmly on lead. The 2 inch deep collars are recommended for medium to larger hounds or dogs that are still 'in training' and pull on the lead.

All are lined with satin and all fit necks sizes 30cm (12 inches) to 48cm (19 inches), when fitted correctly, unless specified differently in the product description.

A properly fitted martingale should be comfortably loose when the dog is stationary. When the martingale is pulled the two slides (D rings or tri glide buckles) should pull close together, but should never touch.

The sizes stated are for the fit below in the photograph so please measure your dog's neck directly behind his/her ears.

We appreciate that a lot of dogs wear their martingales as their house/ tag collars too and the collars will expand further, but would need to be adjusted when out-and-about on lead.
